toilet paper

A necessity that we all need, obviously. At the supermarket you’ll find half an isle of toilet paper, scented with dyes and coloured with inks, wrapped in plastic that we inevitably chuck out without a second thought. Because toilet paper is one of life’s most basic necessities.

I’d seen this ‘Who Gives a Crap’ (WGAC) toilet paper around Hobart’s more groovy cafes. It was one morning getting a coffee at the Rain Check Lounge in North Hobart; that I was ‘in the bathroom’ looking at the funky wrapping paper on their toilet rolls. By the time I’d left the bathroom, I’d ordered a huge box to be delivered to my house with express post.

Their motto ‘stop wiping with trees’ was a big grab for me. Their biodegradable toilet paper is made with 100% recycled books and office paper, without inks or dyes. Chemical free while having a wee.

WGAC also donate 50% of their profits to build toilets for those in need, their website states they’ve donated $1.8 million dollars to charity. So if that’s not a big enough reason to make you switch then I don’t know what will.

It’s also amazing value. I bought 48 xxl rolls for $48 (works out to be 25c per 100 sheets). It doesn’t feel any different from regular toilet paper, which i admittedly thought it would. The wrapping it comes in is super cute which can be re-used in a thousand different ways! I’m personally saving my for wrapping gifts.

In terms of the cardboard box, and toilet rolls; we are able to put the box into kerbside recycling, so no worries there. The toilet rolls we use for entertaining our cat, Gigi, but are also 100% compostable! Once we get our new composting system we will put them to the test!

A beautiful and colourful addition to your bathroom is only a few clicks away, check out their website: to order your own!
